La Baie is a beautiful book in its simple conception and the strength of its images-of men, not all young and attractive - rather, "man" using his body in an effort to stretch it and be comfortable with it. These bodies are boisterous and contemplative, they move with such life that they almost transcend the flatness of the photographic medium. And therein lies the photographer's art.
The setting of the bath pictures is Radauti, a small town in northeastern Rumania. The baths were owned by the Jewish Community, and used by them as well as the Rumanian people.

La Baie is the first photographic book that renders the male nude in a natural, unposed setting, and as such it should take its place among the classics of Nude Photography.
An introduction with technical data sheet written by Laurence Salzmann is included. Overall size of book is 8 3/4" x 11 3/4" (22 cm x 29.5 cm).
